The Yorke Arms is a Michelin restaurant in the village of Ramsgill near Harrogate. With an award winning kitchen, led by top female chef Frances Atkins, the restaurant has a firm reputation for excellent food with a creative flair. I cooked dinner there on 13th August. I’ve written about this amazing experience elsewhere, but the opportunity of doing something new and rather terrifying is that you feel alive.  By that I mean that you see yourself afresh, in a new light and you inevitably rise to the challenge.  You have to.

WHY SHOULD YOU CHALLENGE YOURSELF?

Alastair’s Michelin-starred day underlines the importance of learning to us – and in particular how powerful the experience of learning is. In organisations, it’s all too easy to go on a training course, sit in a room, think about doing things differently and walk out having not changed at all. At Creamer & Sundt, we believe that people walk differently when they have an experience which changes them. Learning which engages heart and mind and truly shifts their minds into another direction. Whether it’s cooking in a restaurant, singing in a choir, acting on stage – all of these encounters with the arts are memorable and transferable.
